At Go Campaigns, we are committed to helping you to get your campaign ready as quickly and easily as possible. With this in mind, we want to share some tips, tricks and FAQs about our Template Editor.
Q: I tried highlighting several cells in a table and using the alignment tools, but not all the cells I selected ended up with the correct alignment? What can I do?
A: Occasionally, when selecting more than one cell in a table, the alignment tools may not be applied correctly. The Lead Miner editor may not align all the cells properly at once. If you find that you experience this situation, we recommend that you highlight each cell that was not aligned as you expected individually until all are correct.
Q: I am trying to define a table using the Table Definition box as described in the editor, but I do not see a table being created, or, I want to define/create a table with no border and I do not see it being inserted into the template. What's wrong?
A: Most likely, you have checked the Border OFF box in the Table Definition pop up window. (The initial default is Border ON.) If you are trying to create a table with no border, you must first define it with Border ON checked at the top of the Table definition window, insert it, and then add text, variables, background colors or images to the cells and, lastly, edit the properties of the table to show Border OFF to remove the border from the final table. See Inserting Tables in the Editor Section of the User Guide for more details.
Q: My Template sometimes seems to be jumping around the screen. What should I do?
A: Occasionally, there is unexpected movement of the window when doing things like using the enter or backspace keys, inserting images, or performing other tasks within the Editor. Although it appears that the cursor may have moved, its placement is actually unchanged. Because your cursor has actually not changed position, simply scroll back to the appropriate place in your template.
Q: I am trying to use a previous marketing document of a different format to create my campaign, but I can't copy and paste the entire thing into the template editor screen at once. What can I do?
A: If you are determined to use a past campaign document of a different format to create a letter template, it may be possible for certain formats, but it might not be the most efficient way to create your template. The text and images must be copied and pasted or inserted separately into the letter template as described in the Editor Page of the User's Guide because the editor is preparing an HTML document for you. Please consult with a professional via email at support@gocampaigns.com or call us at (415) 455-1100 for advice before attempting this.
Q: I can't seem to use the Template Editor the way I use my usual word processor, and it is very different. What is your advice?
A: The Template Editor does not work exactly like a typical word processor because it is creating an HTML document for you behind the scenes. For complete Template Editor Details see the Editor Page of the Lead Miner User's Guide. Since we have included various templates for each industry, it may be possible for you to quickly edit an included Sample template that satisfies your campaign needs. This can be done with a minimal amount of effort, as described in the Sample Template Editing section of the User's Guide Template Editor Page.

Q: I want to save one of my templates as another name so I can keep a copy of it, but I do not see a "Save as..." option available. Is there a way to do this?
A: In order to save any template to a new name, you must copy it by selecting the "Copy Template" button from the Letter Template Selection window. Once this is done, the application will pop up a window asking you to name the new template. Note: Users may want to copy a template before making changes in order to facilitate making new campaign media with slight changes to the same template in the future. See the Editor Page for further details.
Q: I inserted spaces between my images on a page using the space bar, but the spaces disappear when I save the template. What can I do to add extra spaces for padding in my template or between my images?
A: The Space bar is for use in text between words and sentences as you normally would use it in any word processor or editor. However, using the Space bar to add more than one space will not be effective to add spaces between images or to pad your template. Due to the nature of the Template editor, you must use the Tab key instead of spaces for the purpose of separating images or padding the template with additional spaces. The Tab key is set to insert four spaces (that will not collapse on each other.) To get the required number of spaces, users should use the Tab key, and then the Backspace key to delete up to three unwanted spaces. More information can be found in the Editor Page of the User's Guide.
Q: I selected Legal size for my template, but my letters appear to be Letter size when opened with the Adobe Acrobat reader for printing. What should I do?
A: Always check your print setup before printing hard copies. Your Adobe Acrobat settings may vary. Also, Go Campaigns can print your campaign media for you, should you so desire. Click here to view details and pricing information.
Q: My letter template does not look the same as the campaign letters. Why?
A: Often the template does not show the true letter format that will be printed to the .PDF file. Always check your results before printing a campaign to hard copy. We suggest that you always print letters and other media to the .PDF format first, to verify they are correct. Adobe has free versions of the Adobe Acrobat reader, which is necessary to view your .PDF files. Visit the Adobe site to download.
Q: I accidentally saved changes to the HTML window while I had it open for viewing. My template no longer looks correct. What can I do?
A: If you ever find that your template no longer looks proper after you have changed some code in the HTML window, you should copy and paste all the text from the HTML window of your template into a text file and email it to support@gocampaigns.com. Our staff will gladly help straighten it out for you.
Q: Something seems to have gone wrong, and I am having problems editing my template. I cannot make my cursor move to the position I am clicking my mouse on in the template window, or I can't seem to make table cell changes, or I see extra pages added on to my letter, or my changes do not seem to be taking affect once they are saved, and I don't know why. What should I do?
A: The Template Editor, is creating an HTML document for you behind the scenes. If you ever find that there is odd or unexplained behavior with the editor that is preventing you from changing your template in the desired manner, it may be that your HTML has become corrupted. This can show up in the form of the backspace key not working properly, improper cursor movement, extra lines or pages present, table cells not responding to your commands, or a variety of peculiar behaviors. In this case, you should copy and paste all the text from the HTML window of your template into a text file and email it to support@gocampaigns.com. Our staff will gladly help straighten it out for you.
Q: I can't find a spellchecker in the editor. Is there any way I can spell check my campaign media?
A: At the moment, there is no spellchecker built into the Lead Miner Editor. The work around for this is to copy your text to the clipboard by highlighting the text and using the CTRL-C key combination. With your text on the clipboard, paste with the CTRL-V key combination (or menu item) into a word processor application and use the included spellchecker. Once the spelling is corrected, you can then copy and paste it back into template in the Lead Miner editor or simply correct any mistakes found with the spellchecker.
